Marty will be presenting on Heat Transfer – Radiation, Convection and Conduction. A look into gas catalytic infrared, electric infrared and convection heat and how thermal heat transfer combined with physics affect oven design, process and quality improvements.

A brief look into infrared heating technology as an environmentally friendly method of curing powder coatings and the LEAN implications associated with the technology. Lean initiatives of reduced time on the line resulting in added production and utilizing a smaller footprint result in additional capital to the manufacturer. Evaluations of electric infrared, gas-catalytic infrared and gas convection heating technologies to determine the most environmental curing method will be reviewed.

Understanding Heat Transfer: What’s the Right Technology for Me?
This presentation will focus on a case study of various heat technologies and the impacts they have on the powder curing process on various test parts. Utilizing light, heavy, and complex shaped parts, studies completed analyze how long-, medium- and short-wave infrared and convection heat technologies affect oven design, process and quality improvements.

Marty is CEO and owner of Trimac Industrial Systems, a heating and cleaning technologies company. Trimac manufactures ovens, washers and systems and is one of few gas catalytic infrared manufacturers in North America and under their Gas-Cat® brand, manufactured the first gas catalytic infrared oven for powder coating as well as the first infrared finishing system. Last year Marty acquired Protherm, LLC which is an electric Infrared manufacturer to complement Trimac’s gas catalytic and convection technology. Marty has been a driving force behind the education and promotion of the cost, quality and environmental benefits for the use of infrared for process heating. Marty is also the President of the central states CCAI Chapter and is an active member of CCAI.
